We are reading: The Tiger Who Came to Tea

The Tiger Who Came to Tea is another classic from my own childhood that I’m thrilled is now one of Maya’s favourites too.

Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea when there’s a knock at the door – it’s a very hungry tiger who procedes to eat and drink everything in the house. Sophie’s daddy comes home and there’s nothing to eat so they all go out for dinner instead. If you ask Maya, she’ll tell you that the little girl is called Maya and they all go to Ubud for tea.

It’s a simple story and kids love it. Can’t beat the classics!

This is one of James’ favourite books. It amuses me how old fashioned it seems now, having a grocer, milkman and the mum doing the cooking and the Dad going out to work.

  5. We love that book too!! Stella received it as a birthday gift when she was two and it’s been a favourite since. I had never read it before it was gifted to us by a English friend. So it must be a british thing, hey?
    Anyway, it’s great!
