Welcome to the world Maya
Ni Putu Maya Adnyana was born 5 days early on 25/10/10, 3.62kg and 50cm long after a quick and unexpected labour (see previous post!). After being admitted to hospital after my routine checkup showed I was already 3cm dilated, I spent the day pacing up and down the room until they wouldn’t let us leave the delivery room when I was at 5cm because I still wasn’t feeling the contractions. Here’s me looking very unimpressed at being made to stay there :
At 6cm my waters broke and I suddenly started feeling very painful contractions which were less than a minute apart (or so I’m told). About 2 hours later Maya arrived after half an hour or so of pushing which I was convinced wasn’t doing anything (to the point of not believing the doctor when he said he could see the head!) – guess raspberry leaf tea did what it was supposed to afterall! Oh and there is no gas and air here so I had no pain relief whatsoever.
After 2 nights in hospital we headed home for the start of all the offerings and ceremonies that are part of a new baby’s life in Bali. Lots more to come!
